Cookies

This page explains what cookies are, which ones Cloudpacketbase uses, and how to accept or reject them. It should be read with our Privacy notice.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a site. Similar technologies include localStorage keys. Cloudpacketbase uses both. They can be first-party (set by cloudpacketbase.digital) or third-party (set by another domain when a resource loads).

Types we use

Essential. Required to remember your cookie choice and to keep basic site behaviour working. These run whether you accept or reject analytics.

Analytics (optional). Used only if you press Accept on the banner. They help us understand which curriculum pages are read, not to build advertising profiles. Rejecting them does not block courses, forms, or journal articles.

Cookies table

Name Purpose Duration Provider
cloudpacketbase_cookie_consent Stores whether you accepted or rejected optional cookies so the banner does not return every visit. Until you clear site data (localStorage) Cloudpacketbase (first-party)
cpb_session_hint Essential load-balancing hint for the static host, if the host sets one. Not used for advertising. Session or up to 24 hours Hosting provider for cloudpacketbase.digital
_cpb_read Optional analytics: counts unique reads of journal and course pages after Accept. 6 months Cloudpacketbase (first-party)
fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com May set cookies when loading Cormorant Garamond and Outfit. Used only to deliver typefaces. As set by Google Fonts Google Fonts (third-party)
images.unsplash.com Course, journal, and hero images are requested from Unsplash’s CDN. The CDN may log the request; we do not set Unsplash cookies ourselves. As set by Unsplash, if any Unsplash (third-party)

How to manage or disable cookies

Use Accept or Reject on the banner. Both buttons are always available; rejecting does not reduce site functionality. To change a prior choice, clear localStorage for cloudpacketbase.digital (or site data in your browser settings) and reload; the banner will appear again.

You can also block cookies in your browser settings, use a tracking-protection mode, or add domain exceptions. Blocking all cookies may also remove the stored consent key, so the banner will show again. That is expected.

Third-party cookies

Font and image hosts are third parties. We do not control their cookie policies. If you reject analytics, Cloudpacketbase will not set _cpb_read. Your browser may still contact font and image hosts to render the page. To avoid those requests entirely, disable remote fonts/images in your browser or use an offline reader.

Impact of disabling

Rejecting optional analytics does not hide courses, block the contact form, or change fees information. Disabling all cookies and storage may make the banner reappear and may prevent the host from remembering a session hint, which can mean slightly slower first loads. Teaching content remains available.
